In order for Kuduskop Wind Farm Pty Ltd to evacuate power from the authorised Kuduskop North and Kuduskop Wind Energy Facilities (WEFs), a 132kV Overhead Powerline (OHL) is proposed to be constructed between the existing Bon Espirange and Komsberg substations, as well as additions to the transmission infrastructure within the Komsberg substation Property. The project is located within the Witzenberg Local Municipality within the Cape Winelands District Municipality of the Western Cape, and within the Karoo Hoogland Local Municipality, within the Namakwa District Municipality of the Northern Cape, South Africa.
The proposed 132kV OHL corridor between the existing Bon Espirange Substation to the existing Komsberg Substation received Environmental Authorisation (EA) in December 2022 (as part of an EA spilt amendment application, 14/12/16/3/3/1/2608/AM3/2). Condition 12 and 13 of the Environmental Authorisation requires submission of the final layout and Environmental Management Programme to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) for approval.
