Rhino Resources 3D Seismic Survey in PEL0085/Block 2914A, offshore southern Namibia

Rhino Resources Namibia Ltd (Rhino) and its Joint Venture (JV) partners, Azule Energy Exploration Angola Limited, NAMCOR and Korres Investments (Pty) Ltd, are the joint holders of a Petroleum Exploration Licence (PEL0085) over Block 2914A, located off the southern coast of Namibia. The Block covers an area of 5 338 square kilometres in extent and is located ~148 km from Oranjemund and ~260 km from Lüderitz, in water depths ranging from 200 m to 1 800 m.

Based on the exploration results to date, Rhino and its JV partners are proposing to undertake 3D seismic surveying activities across PEL0085/Block 2914A. SLR Environmental Consulting (Namibia) (Pty) Ltd (SLR) was appointed as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to manage the Environmental Clearance Certificate application and to undertake an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment process.

Status

The Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for the Proposed Seismic Surveys within Licence Block 2914A, Namibia, was granted by MEFT: Directorate of Environmental Affairs on 19 October 2026 in terms of the Environmental Management Act (No. 7 of 2007) and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2012. This authorises Rhino Resources Ltd. to undertake seismic survey activities within Licence Block 2914A.

Copies of the ECC, the Final ESIA Scoping Report and the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) are available for information purposes below. The ECC sets out the decision, authorised activities, conditions of authorisation, reasons for the decision and the appeal process in accordance with Section 50 of the Environmental Management Act and Section 25(2)(a) of the EIA Regulations, 2012. Interested and Affected Parties wishing to appeal the decision, or any aspect thereof, must submit an appeal on the prescribed form within fourteen (14) days of receipt of the notification which was distributed on 23 October 2026.
